Residential services
Supported Independent Living is for people who can manage much of daily life on their own but would struggle without some reliable structure behind them. You live in your own apartment or shared unit. Staff visit on an agreed schedule and are reachable outside those hours.
Support typically covers the things that quietly derail independent living: rent and bills, groceries and cooking, appointments, medication reminders, laundry and cleaning routines, and navigating problems with landlords, benefits or paperwork.
Hours are set by assessment and reviewed regularly in both directions. Where someone is gaining confidence we reduce support deliberately. Where life has become harder — a health change, a lost job, a bereavement — we increase it without fuss.
We also help with the practical business of getting set up: housing search support, understanding a lease, connecting utilities, furnishing a first apartment, and learning the neighbourhood.
Crucially, there is always someone to call. Most of the value of this program is in knowing that a locked-out Sunday or a frightening letter is not something you have to solve alone.
A real tenancy with a real front door, with support arranged around your life rather than a facility schedule.
Hours reduce as confidence grows and increase when life gets harder, without you having to re-apply.
On-call support outside scheduled visits, so a problem at nine on a Sunday has an answer.
Assistance finding a unit, understanding a lease, setting up utilities and dealing with landlords.
Budgeting, bill payment routines, benefits applications and the correspondence that comes with them.
Deliberate work on community connection, because living independently should not mean living alone.
Questions
It is set by assessment — commonly a few hours a week up to daily visits. Hours are reviewed at least twice a year and whenever circumstances change.
Usually you hold your own tenancy and we provide the support. We help with the search, the application and the lease, and can advise on subsidised options in your area.
Scheduled visits are agreed in advance, and on-call support covers the hours in between. Emergency protocols are written down and rehearsed so you know exactly what to do.
Yes, and it is one of the better transitions we support. We plan it in stages with skill-building beforehand rather than as a single move date.
