Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and to meet our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (O. Reg. 191/11).

What we have built in

• A skip link to main content, and a single clear heading structure on every page with no skipped levels.
• Full keyboard operability. Every interactive control is reachable and usable without a mouse, and the focus indicator is always visible.
• Text size controls (default, large, extra large) that scale the entire interface, plus a high contrast mode and a reduce motion option — all in the accessibility panel at the bottom right of every page.
• Respect for your operating system’s reduced-motion setting, whether or not you use our toggle.
• Colour contrast meeting or exceeding 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface components.
• Form fields with real labels, clear error messages announced to screen readers, and errors described in text rather than by colour alone.
• Descriptive link text — no bare “click here” — and clear notice when a link opens in a new tab.
• Alternative text on meaningful images; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
• Page zoom to 200% without loss of content or functionality, and a layout that reflows to a single column on narrow screens.
• Semantic landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) so screen reader users can jump directly to the part they want.

Where we know we fall short

Being honest about this is more useful than claiming perfection:

• Embedded maps and video players are supplied by Google and Vimeo. We cannot control their internal accessibility, so we always provide the same information in text alongside them.
• PDF resources uploaded by our staff may not all be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need one in an accessible format, ask and we will provide it.
• This statement is based on our own testing. We intend to commission an independent audit and will publish the results here.

Accessible formats and communication support

On request and at no additional cost, we will provide information from this website in an accessible format or with communication support, arranged in consultation with you. That includes large print, plain language summaries, and reading information aloud over the phone.

Accommodation in employment
